Journey of the Phoenix came to be following several years and many different experiences of seeing people being served by mental health in a very sterile non-personal way. While it allowed some people to make progress, there were many who still hungered for more and a few who sat on my heart as their eyes silently desired a more human approach. I wanted to walk beside my clients on their journey no matter their experiences because like so many of them I too have known hard times. At one point a very hard experience in work happened and I realized I only had two options in my career and as a person; I could either quit mental health and counseling altogether or I could completely change how I approached it and I could be a voice that yelled and not only stood for my clients when they couldn't but instead I would be the swings they needed when they just wanted to rise above their ashes as they emerge as a phoenix. Thus, Journey of the Phoenix Counseling was born!
